On Saturday 27th September, the Oxfam Herts Hike combines walking in the beautiful Hertfordshire countryside whilst raising funds for Oxfam’s work - this year supporting girls’ education in Pakistan.
Walkers make a personal donation or collect sponsorship money from their supporters. This event is run entirely by volunteers and supported by local companies – so all proceeds go to the project.
Walkers choose their distance which includes a mini hike ideal for children (3 or 4 miles within Heartwood Forest) or 8, 11, or 17 miles. All routes are circular. Park in the Heartwood Forest car park and follow signs from there. A fair-trade stall and refreshments are available from the registration centre.
Full route directions will be given out when you register on the day. If you don’t want to walk by yourself, a group walk will be organised to start at 10:30. The routes open at 08.30 and everyone needs to be back by 5pm.
There’s no registration fee and you can enrol and download information at www.oxfamstalbans.org For other queries please email hertshike@gmail.com
This is the 21st annual Oxfam Herts Hike which has been run and co-ordinated by the local Oxfam St Albans Group. Up to 200 walkers take part each year including children.
